Day Fifteen

I've spent most of today searching the internet for winter outfit inspiration. I never look at anyone else in a jumper and jeans and think they look awful, but I can't stand the sight of it on myself. It just feels so boring and uncreative.

As it turns out, most of the world seem to wear shorts in winter, because it's not -500 like it is in London, so all in all it was a useless waste of time, unless you're immune to sub-zero temperatures and are happy to wander around without a coat.

Day Fourteen

It snowed this morning, if you hadn't heard. And I HATE snow. In fact I hate any weather that isn't mild and at least slightly sunny, so it was big jumpers and fur all the way today. Tried and tested as a warm outfit (with two t-shirts and an extra pair of leggings), this will be my official outfit for the week if the snow keeps it up.

Day Thirteen

My hangover Sunday has consisted of Breakfast Club with the hangover crew, Baileys latte's and streaming Les Mis. Ideal!

Cardigan - vintage; Crop top - Topshop; High waisted jeans - eBay; DM brogues - eBay; Necklace - eBay; Frilly sock - H&M

It can be as cold as it likes but I will be wearing crop tops through the snow, I don't even care. Also, high waisted jeans are an error when you're venturing out solely to stuff yourself with veggie breakfasts, but whatever.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

Day Twelve

It's two of my girl's birthdays tonight so we're hitting the town. Wasn't entirely sure of my outfit - I feel part power lesbian, part office worker, part hipster - but I'm going with it anyway.

Blazer - H&M; Crop top - eBay; Trousers - H&M; Shoes - New Look; Bag - iOffer

In fact, I was considering returning these trousers until I noticed that that shop assistant had marked them down wrong so I actually got them for £5. What a bargain!

Day Eleven

A depressing day of emails, meetings and trying to sort my life out. Days like this always encourage me to dress in a way that contradicts my actual position. So where I feel like I should be in horrible lazy clothing, I dress like I actually have some money/good stuff going on. I'm not the only one who does that, right?

In other news today, I found a pair of Jeffrey Campbells reduced from £95 to £20 IN MY SIZE ONLY, and I didn't buy them, which proves that I am slowly but surely maturing when it comes to my finances. I'm also kind of willing for spring to come early so it's been a pastely kinda day over here.

Day Ten

Despite what the weather seemed to suggest yesterday, summer hasn't actually started, so I froze in this today. Might be time to bring the furs back out. My winter denial means they've not seen much daylight this year.

Leather jacket - eBay; Jumper - Topshop; Skirt - American Apparel - Boots - Topshop; Bag - Primark

This dalmatian print canvas bag is my new favourite thing. I initially bought it (for a bargain £1.50) for the days I'm running around with my laptop and gym clothes, but it actually makes a pretty cute bag for normal days too!

Day Nine

I spent this morning running errands, but having sorted out a teeny tiny bit of my wardrobe last night I decided to wear yet another sad piece that's been lying around waiting to be loved.

Top - American Apparel; Leather trousers - Topshop; Converse - Office; Necklace - eBay

I bought this sweat top during an American Apparel phase and have pretty much only ever worn it to the gym or to sleep. I wore it with a peacoat today which kind of reminded me of on of those outfits you'd reblog on Tumblr but looks really crap when you put it on yourself!

Teamed with leather trousers, this is pretty much the closest you'll ever see me get to the 'sports luxe' trend. A pretty pathetic attempt, but I just don't get it - sorry!

Day Eight

Obviously I'm putting my new boots into action today! This is my second day of wearing something that's been sat in my wardrobe waiting to be loved. I bought this velvet leopard print top a few months back in a charity shop but I've been feeling so uninspired I've not got around to wearing it.

Similarly, yesterday's cricket jumper was a bargain for £1 at a car boot sale last summer and was actually in one of my eBay bags until I saw a few people wearing similar pieces and decided to give mine a go. I'm going to put it down to this blog inspiring me to make a use out of the numerous unworn items I own.

Day Seven: Return to Reality

Real life has officially started again, and it's come as quite a shock to my system. After two weeks of waking up whenever I wanted (never before 10am), my 8.30 alarm felt like the worst thing ever.

When I finally crawled out of bed, I popped to the Post Office to pick up these babies that had arrived during the holidays. I'd been looking for a pair of casual boots for so long since my Dr Martens destroy my feet. I can't wait to wear them, so expect to see them in loads of upcoming posts!

Didn't have much time to pick an outfit this morning, and since I've just been rushing from one place to another all day, comfort was the main factor yet again. I hate having to dress comfortably, it feels so unattractive, but I was far too sleepy to care today!

Cricket jumper - car boot sale; Wet look leggings - eBay; Brogues - Very.com (via eBay)

I did actually take some pictures in this outfit but I look half asleep (because I was) and now I've been to the gym so that's not happening!
Hope you've all had a nice Monday.

Day Six: Home Time

For the first time ever I felt absolutely no desire to leave my parent's house and come back to London. But I did, and tomorrow begins a new week of reality and responsibility.

Packing was an issue, and I ended up having to take a huge suitcase back with me because all of my things wouldn't fit into the one I'd brought back with me. Oops!

Boring, comfy travel outfit today due to spending half of it hungover and the other half sat on a train. In an attempt to keep up my New Year's fitness regime I also rejoined the gym, so we'll see how that goes.

Jumper - Primark; Hoodie - American Apparel; Denim jacket - car boot sale; Velvet leggings - Topshop; Frilly socks - H&M; Creeper wedges - eBay

When I got home my new phone case had arrived... And it's not too different from my old one! Clearly I have a very specific taste when it comes to phone accessories. Tack all the way!

I've got such a busy week ahead of me, including some pretty big plans to renovate my life, so stay tuned!
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

Day Five

I've still managed to avoid packing my things, but it's time to head out for some drinks with my girlfriends.

Being used to dressing for city life in London, it's funny having to pick outfits to go out in little country pubs. I love to wear heels and hats and lots of leather, but it just doesn't fit in here at all. I try not to let it affect my outfits, but I definitely feel conscious of toning down my look for evenings out here!

Where I usually wouldn't think twice about putting a bowler (and some 6 inch heels) with this outfit, I'm more than likely going to chicken out and keep accessories to a minimum tonight.

Top 12 Beauty Favourites

Since I'm having a lazy Saturday putting off packing all my things to go back to London tomorrow, I thought I'd do a post on my must-have beauty items.

Whilst I'm far more into fashion that beauty, and can't be bothered to spend much time or money on every day beauty regimes, there are a few items which I just couldn't be without.

1. Make Believe Self Tan Mousse - having spent months, if not years, trying to find the ultimate fake tan, I think I've finally nailed it. I've tried everything from budget St Moritz and Banana Boat to moisturisers to St Tropez, but this is by far the best. Nice smell, easy application, natural finish, and best of all it's white foam, so no streaks!

2. Sally Hansen Diamond Strength nail polish - from years of biting, my nails are weak and brittle. And undercoat of Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength under my coloured polish has definitely improved their strength and helped them grow.

3. Organix Moroccan Argan Oil - again, with so many expensive brands on the market, it took a while for me to find the ideal argan oil. Organix (available in Boots) is just £5.99 and doesn't make hair look greasy, no matter how much you apply.

4. Collection 2000 Fix Me Up - this spray claims to help seal your makeup, meaning it lasts longer without fading or smudging off. This may very well be a placebo, but I use it every time I go on a night out and I'm convinced it works!

5. Bare Minerals moisturiser - pretty straight forward. This was gifted to me after a make-under day with Bare Minerals. I use it daily before applying my makeup and I love it!

6. Lush Mint Julips lip scrub - removes all the dry skin from your lips; tastes like mint choc chip; you can eat it afterwards. Need I say more?!

7. Nicki Minaj for MAC lipstick - I love this Barbie pink shade. It goes with everything and lasts all night without smudging or fading.

8. Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb - my longest standing perfume, I've been wearing Flowebomb for three years now.

9. Bare Minerals Prime Time primer - another gift from my make-under day, this primer is better than the millions I have tried and tested. Would recommend to anyone who, like me, feels their foundation runs off within an hour of application!

10. Organix Brailian Kertain Therapy - I apply this to wet hair (followed by Moroccan oil on the ends) before blow drying to help prevent split ends. It smells great too!

11. Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam - long lasting, and unrivalled (as far as I have seen) in terms of colour.

12. VO5 Ultimate Hold hairspray - it's been my life's mission, since my backcombing obsession at age 15, to find the ultimate strong-hold hairspray for my flat, pathetic hair. VO5's is exactly what I was searching for.

Bit of a long one today, but I hope this helps anyone who is looking for beauty recommendations without bias!

Day Four

Another PJ day, leading to an evening out. Having a casual evening in Bristol before I head back to London this weekend so it's nothing too exciting.

Being poor, my recent evening outfits have all consisted of high waisted trousers and a plain top, but somehow I feel that makes them more reusable. Statement looks are more one-offs for me, and I avoid wearing them multiple times. Looks like this I can wear for months and months without getting bored of the outfit or any of the pieces in it.

Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell (via Sarenza); Fur collar - H&M; Gold necklace - eBay; Cross earrings - Primark; Turtleneck crop top - eBay; Denim jacket - car boot sale; Disco pants - American Apparel; Clutch - Primark

Since I've bothered to put makeup on today, you can even have a pic of the outfit in action!

Thursday 3 January 2013

Day Three

I took a day off from work today and went shopping with my mum - I have Christmas money left over that I don't want to spend on bills or cocktails, so let me off this once!

I actually only ended up with a portable iPhone charger and some cute Charlotte Olympia-esque kitty pumps from Accessorize. And they were both bargains so it's fine.
Tomasina Cat ballet pumps - £26 £13; Portable Charger - £20 £6 both Accessorize

I've been lusting after the Charlotte Olympia kitty pumps for so long, and these were such a steal that I couldn't resist. Plus, all my shoes are either heels, trainers or ridiculous platforms following summer's grunge obsession, so it was about time I invested in some sensible shoes. Justification over.

Fur bag - Primark; Spike shoes - eBay; Black jeans - American Apparel; fur gilet - Asda; Jumper - Asda

Another thing I'd been hunting for forever was a black fur gilet. They're such a simple item, but nowhere seems to get them right. New Look had a gorgeous one, but the back was PU leather, Primark had the shape spot on, but it was only available in blue (wtf?!), and everywhere else were charging beyond the odds.

I picked this one up in Asda, of all places, whilst shopping with my mum for New Year's Eve table decorations, along with the amazing fluoro jumper.

Day Two

Another lazy day today! Working from home means that I don't actually have to get dressed until I need to leave the house, which can be good and bad. Good, because it saves me putting outfits together, bad, because it's hard to be proactive in pyjamas!

I went to watch The Hobbit with my family this evening, and since I was only going to be sat in the dark, I put minimal effort into my outfit. It seems I'm having a pretty uninspired start to 2013! I just find it so hard to dress well in cold weather when all I really care about is not freezing on my way to the car.

T-shirt - Topshop Maternity (via eBay); Leggings - eBay; Pumps - eBay

A very eBay orientated outfit today, so it's probably a good chance to mention that I am completely addicted. I love bargains, I love packages arriving, and I love bidding. It's a pretty unhealthy, and ultimately expensive, addiction which is one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place.

Also, I have no need for maternity wear just yet, I just like my tops to be baggy and this one happened to be going cheap!

Tuesday 1 January 2013

Day One

I'm still at home for Christmas so only have access to the capsule wardrobe that would fit in my suitcase! January 1st is a pretty sluggish day for everyone, and since I was only heading over to a friend's house, it was a pretty lazy day for me outfit-wise.

Shirt - Beyond Retro; T-shirt - Primark; Leggings - Topshop; Socks - eBay; Nike Blazers - Office; Necklace - H&M

Eventually I will start taking photos of the outfits whilst I wear them, but for now, as I'm trying to log what goes well together, I prefer just laying them out.

Happy New Year!
